A listed, limited handicap chase over 3m having its tenth running (so not masses to work off trends-wise) and where the bottom weight carries 10st 4lb, a few of the entries could be out of the handicap if Black Corton and/or Ballyoptic take up their entry. Not ideal for those languishing out of the weights therefore, especially in a race where horses carrying 11st+ have won four of the last five runnings.

It has been a surprisingly good race for older handicappers with five of the last ten winners aged ten or eleven including the 2018 winner, Regal Encore, and he looks set to return at the age of 12.

Watch Betfair Ascot Chase day at Ascot live on Sky Sports Racing (Sky 415 | Virgin 535) on Saturday 15th February.

Eight last-time-out winners have run in the last ten years and they have featured two winners and two runners-up but only two favourites have won it that time. All ten winners started at no bigger than 9/1 though and five of the last six winners could be located in the second-fourth favourites bracket.

Venetia Williams has won two of the last three runnings but is not represented this time so there are no relevant notable trainer trends to speak of.
